Now we have reviewed the tools and instruments we need to test insertion loss and have gone though the process steps, let's perform a virtual test. First turn on the source and meter and let them warm up for a minute. Since they are battery powered, make sure they have enough charge so that no "lo bat" indicators show. Both already show they have been set to 1310nm, the wavelength we need for testing SM fiber. If you need to change it, use the Wavelength buttons to set the instruments to the correct wavelength. |
